Kayaking and Canoeing
Introductory sessions
Introductory sessions in kayaking take place at grange beach or Duncannon Harbour which are flat sheltered environments that are very scenic and ideal for learning the fundamentals of kayaking and canoeing and having great fun.
There is a lot of variety in these locations so we can cater for many different types of groups, whether you want just make a splash and give a new sport a try or you are looking to hone your skills. All specialist equipment will be provided including Buoyancy aid, helmet wetsuit paddles, boats and obviously great instruction.
River trips
For the more adventurous Shielbaggan also offers river trips on the river Barrow. This is an ideal location for white water canoeing and kayaking. Here you can learn the progressive skills that you require to navigate down grade two rapids.Our Irish Canoe Union qualified and highly experienced staff will guide you down, making sure that your river trip is memorable one.

Canoeing and kayaking are very varied and adaptable sports that can cater to all levels so using the two locations we can create a session that meets your needs.
Kayaks:
Are one person crafts in which the person sits down and used a double bladed paddle. There are a number of different disciplines including freestyle, flat water racing, river running, creeking, slalom, wild water racing, polo and sea kayaking. We have 31 White Water kayaks and 40 sit-on top kayaks for beginners and beach sessions.
Canoes:
Are usually two person crafts that people kneel in and use a single blade paddle, a fantastic way to explore some of our amazing waterways.
